The smallest ocean: the Arctic Ocean. Arctic Ocean is the world's smallest and most shallow and coldest ocean. Arctic Ocean to the Arctic Circle roughly centered in the Earth's northernmost mainland Europe and North America are holding ring with the narrow Bering Strait and the Pacific interlinked; through the Greenland Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of many connected, is the smallest of the world's oceans , an area of only 15 million square kilometers, less than one-tenth of the Pacific. Its depth of 1097 meters, 5499 meters is the deepest. Ancient Greece once called it "the ocean is on the constellation Ursa Major." In 1650, Dutch explorer W. Barents, put it classified as independent oceans, called the big Northern. In 1845, the Geographical Society of London named after Chinese language translated into the Arctic Ocean. Western name Arctic comes from the Greek, meaning correct constellation Ursa facing the ocean.
